Yoga is about more than the poses (or asanas) you see posted all over social media. It’s not all standing on your head or contorting yourself into a pretzel. In fact, a lot of yoga practitioners can’t even do those things. It doesn’t matter. Yoga is for everyone, and it’s more than a form of exercise. Yoga is also a lifestyle and spiritual practice. You don’t have to be a yogi to benefit from yoga’s ethical practices.
Check out this short video we found for you online. It is about yoga’s Yamas and Niyamas from Wise Living Tools. Yamas are things you shouldn’t do, and niyamas are observances (or things you should do). These simple ethical guidelines can act as a guide for making good choices and keeping your vibration high. Plus, there are no consequences (other than the natural results of your actions) for screwing up. Yoga is all about progress, not perfection. So, if you’re a messy person, this practice is still perfect for you.
Don’t worry. You don’t have to be flexible to do yoga–or to follow the ethical code. You just need to be interested in trying to be a good human.
